Holiday Train Rides at Fort Eustis

Dec 10th, 2022
11:00 AM EST (1100R)

Find the USO at this year’s Operation Sergeant Santa, Holiday Train Rides for Military Families, held at Joint Base Langley Eustis in Newport News, Virginia! This 1-hour ride around Fort Eustis will also include wonderful entertainment before boarding. And a visit from Sgt. Santa as he’ll walk through each car, pose for pictures, and hand out the first gift of the holiday season to every child.

This base has been home to the US Army Transportation Corps. since 1942, with over 20 miles of railroad tracks and many railcars and locomotives brought in to train members of the Army, Airforce, Navy, and Marines on how to operate these mighty machines. Although Active Duty Army Rail ended in 1972, the base still receives rail traffic through the United States Military Railroad. In 2021 the event returned for the first time in 49 years. The combined efforts of the Command at Joint Base Langley Eustis, The Military Railroad Society, as well as donations for car moves from CSX and a generous donation from Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, we were able to give free rides in 2021.
