Volunteer Opportunity: Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast

The Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast are looking for volunteers to assist at their annual Cookie Count-n-Go delivery locations on March 25, 2023. They will distribute approximately 75,000 cases of cookies, which equates to 900,000 boxes of cookies to more than 680 troops across three delivery locations!

Volunteers can choose which from three locations:

• Kmart - 401 Oriana Road, Newport News, VA 23608
• Harrison’s Moving and Storage - 1010 Cavalier Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23323
• Tidewater Community College - 1700 College Crescent, Virginia Beach, VA 23453

Volunteers can choose a shift or help all day.

• 1st shift: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
• 2nd shift: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
• All Day

Volunteers will be assigned to one of the following roles on the day of the event.

• Counter/Loader - loading and counting cases of cookies into volunteer vehicles.
• Traffic Control - directing vehicles to their assigned pickup lane.
• Recount Station - assisting volunteers with unloading and recounting delivery.
• Water Delivery/Floater - delivering water bottles to volunteers loading vehicles, and fill-in for bathroom breaks.
• Welcome - checking in troops, and distributing bubble sheets and other materials.

Volunteers must be:

• 16 years old or older.
• Prepared to work the entire shift selected.
• Able to lift at least 30lbs.
• Able to be on their feet for at least 4 hours.

Additional Information:

• Water and snacks will be available. We also suggest brining a water bottle too!
• Volunteers will receive a participation letter, the letter will be generically addressed (Dear Volunteer), with a blank space to enter volunteer hours.
• Volunteers will receive a box of Girl Scout cookies when checking out.
