Outdoor Adventure Team Remembers Extortion 17 Warriors With an Honor Ride
On August 6, 2019, our Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) hosted an honor (cycling) ride to remember the lives lost during the Extortion 17 mission, throughout Virginia Beach. The day started bright and early at the OAT clubhouse in JEBLC, where over 50 cyclists made their way to the Seal Monument at Virginia Beach Oceanfront. At the monument, cyclists held a lantern lighting ceremony, discussion, prayer, and a moment of silence. Afterwards, they enjoyed the ride throughout the Virginia Beach area.
“On this day, we took on the road and honored the Men and MWD who paid the ultimate sacrifice on the Extortion 17 mission. With over 50 cyclists, the Honor Ride covered more than 3,250 miles combined,” said Johnny Ayo, OAT Program Director.
USOHRCV’s Outdoor Adventure Team (OAT) is a peer-led health and wellness program designed for service members and their families to connect over physical challenges to encourage sustainable healthy living. Learn more about the program here.
