USO To Go! Summer Family Activity Bag Curbside Pick-Up

Although our comfort centers are still temporarily closed, team USOHRCV is committed to supporting our service members and their families. In addition to programs like Little Patriots Kids Korner, Pen Pal Program, and our Coffee, Cake, and Camo Podcast, we’ve coordinated a curbside pick-up program with about 120 military families across the Hampton Roads area to keep them connected to our mission while social distancing.
The USO’s Summer Family Activity Bag (FAB) is a customized and connective “care package” experience for military families, filled with engaging activities. All activities inside of the bag are to be done together while staying home! On July 24, 2020, we set up shop at our USO Fort Eustis center to distribute FABs to 60 military families that pre-registered on a first come, first serve basis. On July 31, 2020, we distributed another 60 FABS to military families.
Upon pre-registration, families indicated the size of their family and the age groups of their children. Activities inside of the FABs were catered to each child by age, so there was something fun for the whole family!
In fact, some parents enjoyed the activities so much, they wanted to keep them for themselves!
During these uncertain times, one thing remains clear: the USO is “Always By Their Side.”
Stay tuned for more USO HRCV happenings like these by following us on Facebook, Instagram, or check out our Events page.
