USO HRCV Launches USO Holidays to Support Heroes Who Serve Far from Home This Holiday

The USO Hampton Roads Central Virginia, whose mission is to strengthen service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, launches its holiday campaign, Hope for the Holidays, helping military families stay connected to the things they hold most dear this holiday season by hosting special holiday events and meals for service members and their families separated from home.

The Hope for the Holidays campaign initially begin just before Thanksgiving, where over 1,000 turkeys were distributed to military service members and their families throughout the U.S. Southeast Region. In addition to the USO Hampton Roads and Central Virginia ongoing programming that strengthens service members through connection to the things they hold dear, the USO Hampton Roads and Central Virginia will also host festive holiday programming for service members and military families to bring hope and cheer, reminding them of holiday traditions. From Operation Holiday Spirit, our angel tree program for military families in need, to partnering with Fort Lee Family Housing, Joint Base Langley Fort Eustis MWR, and Naval Station Norfolk MWR to distribute holiday goodie bags, the USO is making sure that service members and their families are connected to the comforts of home, especially during the holiday season.

“Often times, our USO centers or USO programming is the closest sense of home our service members can experience while separated from family and serving around the world during the holidays,” said Paula Moran, Executive Director, USO Hampton Roads and Central Virginia. “Through these special USO Holidays events and meals, we are bringing a touch of home and hope to America’s service members and expressing the country’s gratitude for their sacrifices during this special time of year.” The USO Holidays campaign will run through December.
