Liberty Tax Supports USO and Military Members With $50,000 Sponsorship

Company will also provide volunteers and assistance at local USO comfort centers

Virginia Beach, VA () – Liberty Tax, Inc. (NASDAQ: TAX)

Liberty Tax, a leading tax preparation franchise, today presented the USO Hampton Roads Central Virginia (USOHRCV) with a check for $50,000 to assist the non-profit in its mission to serve and support local service members and their families. Liberty Tax also signed on as a corporate sponsor for USOHRCV.

“Liberty Tax values the work done by USO chapters across the country,” said CEO Ed Brunot. “We are proud to be a USO sponsor and committed to assisting the USO as it works to enhance the quality of life for our troops and their families.”

Brunot served as a Captain in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He is a board member for USOHRCV.

As a sponsor, Liberty Tax will assist at local USO comfort centers in the Hampton Roads/Central Virginia region. The centers are staffed by volunteers who welcome troops and their families, day and night, and provide an oasis for those returning from deployment or beginning a tour of duty. Liberty Tax will also provide valuable tax information to military members and their families during tax season.

The United Services Organization Inc., was founded through a congressional charter in 1941, just before the onset of American involvement in World War II. Their mission is to “Strengthen america’s service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and country, throughout their service to our nation.” USOHRCV, the local operating chapter of USO Inc., was founded in 1984. It serves about 400,000 military members and their families annually at 12 locations and through special events such as USO Warrior Week. USOHRCV offers programs for every step of a service member’s military career, including deployments and homecomings, transition services, and continuing support for those wounded or injured in the line of duty.

“I feel this partnership is a very natural fit. Not only is Liberty Tax headquartered in our region, but our logos match too!” said Paula Moran, President and CEO of USOHRCV. “Both of our organizations clearly share a passion for our service members and their families who make up such a large and invaluable chunk of our community. I’m thankful and excited to have the support of Liberty Tax moving forward!”
