USO HRCV Launches MilKids Tour in Celebration of Month of the Military Child
The month of April is designated as the Month of the Military Child to acknowledge and celebrate the important role military children play in the armed forces community. According to the Department of Defense, there are more than 1.6 million military children who face many challenges and unique experiences as a result of their parents’ service. USO programs provide military children and families the tools they need to cope with the unique challenges they face as a family serving our country.
This year, USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia (USO HRCV) celebrated Month of the Military Child by launching the first MilKids Tour. With social distancing and safety guidelines in place, military kids and their families registered to pick-up goodie bags filled with kid-friendly activities appropriate for different age groups and sweet treats like Girl Scout Cookies or candy. The tour reached five different installations across the Hampton Roads and Central Virginia area to serve kids of all five branches.
